Apple has chosen not to force the upgrade to iOS 27, but recommends at least installing iOS 26.7.1 to ensure users have the latest security patches. Security is a critical factor for users, as Apple's software updates are known for delivering critical fixes that protect devices from vulnerabilities and malicious attacks.

Apple's decision to promote iOS 27 in this way may be an indication of its confidence in the performance and stability of the new version.

iOS 27 brings users a range of new features and performance improvements. These include improvements to speed and battery life, as well as enhanced security. Users who have already upgraded to iOS 27 have reported positive experiences, highlighting increased device responsiveness and improved power management. The move to iOS 27 is not only about improving the user experience, but also about security. Users who choose to stay on iOS 26 should be aware of the potential security risks. Unpatched vulnerabilities can be a target for malicious attacks, putting users' personal data at risk. Apple, by changing the order of updates, is more actively encouraging users to upgrade their devices to ensure the protection of their data.

Upgrading to a new iOS version can take time and require storage space on the device. Users should ensure that they have sufficient space and that their device is connected to Wi-Fi and charged before starting the upgrade process. These prerequisites are important to avoid issues during installation and ensure a smooth transition to the new software.

Apple has yet to share iOS 27 adoption numbers, but the shift in promotion strategy suggests a more aggressive approach to encouraging upgrades. The company appears to be investing in user experience and security, two factors that are critical to maintaining user trust. The move may also reflect Apple’s desire to remain competitive in the smartphone market by continually offering improved and more secure versions of its operating system.
