A new, quite tempting scam is circulating on Facebook: "Win a 2013 Ford Mustang ."
The message was posted on Facebook claiming to be from Ford and states:
“For the first time in Facebook history, we are giving away a Ford Mustang to one lucky winner we will choose on October 21st. Would you like to participate in this amazing giveaway and win a new Mustang? Simply follow the steps below to enter the contest.”
Potential victims will have to “like” the website, post it on their “wall” and leave a comment stating the color they like.
As Hoax Slayer, the contest is fake. No one will win the Ford Mustang. The scammers on the other hand collect “likes” which they can sell on the black market to be used for advertising purposes (Like Farming).
The official Ford Mustang Facebook has 5.5 million members and of course does not mention any Giveaway.
There are currently several 2013 Ford Mustang pages on Facebook promoting the fake contest. Some of them have already garnered over 10,000 likes.
