All of you who use Internet Explorer should take immediate precautions as according to the latest information, the exploit for the latest zero-day vulnerability in the browser is widely circulating in hacker.
According to Rapid7, Ross Barrett, the exploit code is now widely available online. Earlier this week, he submitted the exploit code to Virus Total and Scumware.
Attackers typically exploit vulnerabilities they discover in websites, for example, exploiting old versions of WordPress to upload their own malware to the servers hosting the websites. They then, through spam or phishing attacks, drive unsuspecting users to these sites, which in turn pass their malicious payload onto victims' computers via a vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The hacker party is never-ending, as according to StatCounter, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 represent 20.15% of all browsers.
Not using Internet Explorer for now seems like a very good idea. For those who insist on using Microsoft's browser, it would be a good idea to install all the patches.
