Microsoft and the new messaging app

Microsoft is developing its own Slack rival called Skype Teams. It will have similar features but come with an additional package that will bring teams and organizations significant benefits.

From the screenshots posted online by MSPU, it appears that the Skype Teams interface resembles Slack and provides some similar features, such as private messages as well as group chats, file sharing, and support for emojis and GIFs.

Microsoft, however, aims to offer something more, as Skype Teams will come with something called “The Fun Picker,” which allows users to choose between emojies and Giphy GIFs and incorporate them into conversations.

A special feature that will be available in Skype Teams is called Threaded Conversations which allows users to reply to comments with a system that is similar to Facebook threads.

Navigating the application will be possible with a special sidebar that will include shortcuts to the main sections of Skype Teams.

Skype Teams will be available on all devices and will also be available as a Windows app, including for Windows 10 Mobile phones. The service will be available both on the web and on iOS and Android via a dedicated app.

We don't yet know when this app will be available, but since Microsoft has already started testing it, it won't be long before it sees the light of day.
