Google has begun rolling out an update that will give Android users more options for managing their contacts, according to Android Police.
Previously, the Android app was pretty basic, with the UI featuring a list of contacts and an Add button. There were some options when adding contacts, but they were the usual sections for adding information, nothing out of the ordinary. The new update to version 1.5 brings several significant improvements, including the removal of the Favorites and All tabs that were present in previous versions. These two have been replaced by a hamburger menu with more options. You can now view contacts and filter them by labels and accounts. Users will now be able to create and manage labels from the app, so they can manage contacts in a smarter way. Apart from that, Google has introduced an option that allows you to remove duplicates from your contact list so that you can organize them better. The feature was not available on Android before, but is available on the web version of Google Contacts. The app offers users the ability to merge or delete duplicate contacts.
