  • The Yoga Book's halo keyboard combines software and hardware technology on the same surface that offers a different typing experience, which surpasses conventional tablets and corresponds to the experience offered by a physical touch keyboard.
  • Inspired by the elegance and simplicity of notebooks, the Yoga Book features a real-pen writing accessory that allows users to digitize their notes and sketches while using it to write or draw.
  • The Yoga Book's thin and light design, 15-hour battery life, and 360-degree watch-band hinge give users on the go the freedom to write and draw wherever they are, combining the convenience of a smartphone without the need to carry a laptop or additional accessories.
  • The Yoga Book, available in both Android and Windows versions, is the world's thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 tablet and answers users' need for a better and more productive tablet experience.

Lenovo has introduced the Yoga Book, the world’s thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 tablet, designed for unparalleled creativity on the go. Specifically designed for use on the go and to address the most important challenge for users – how to combine productivity and entertainment on one device – the Yoga Book is a tablet with unique aesthetics and functionality. Until now, we have used tablets for uses we had not initially calculated: for productivity, for example, which can prove difficult when typing or using a stylus on a touch screen while on the go. The Yoga Book eliminates this difficulty. It builds on the building blocks that make a tablet unique, such as portability, long-lasting battery life and an expanded range of applications, and unifies them into a strand that combines creativity and productivity, through powerful hardware and software features, such as:

  • The instant halo keyboard
  • The dual-use stylus pen that writes on both paper and screen
  • Book UI designed to enhance productivity

“Our goal was to redefine the tablet conundrum, where consumers no longer separate their activities into productivity and entertainment. They combine them all, and so should their devices,” said Jeff Meredith, vice president and general manager of Android & Chrome Computing at Lenovo. “The Yoga Book’s keyboard is touch-sensitive and can be used as a pen surface, with a sleek, simple, and incredibly thin design. We believe our unique design will offer tablet consumers, 2-in-1 consumers, and traditional notebook buyers a unique opportunity to evolve their user experience.”.  lenovo yoga book

Particularly thin and light

With two panels that open like a super-slim notebook, the Yoga Book is incomparably thin and light, more than any tablet you’re used to using on the go or at home. As the world’s thinnest 2-in-1 tablet, the Yoga Book measures 9.6mm when closed, measuring just 4.05mm thick, and as the world’s lightest 2-in-1 tablet, it weighs 690g. The Yoga Book has smartphone portability, so you can hold and carry it easily like a book. Yoga Book users who carry it with them all day long have the ability to work anywhere. On public transportation, in a crowded waiting room, whenever they want, thanks to its thin and light design, 15-hour battery life, and a watchband hinge that allows it to fold 360 degrees. And when users aren't in the mood to work, they have a top-notch entertainment tablet to keep them company, with a 10.1-inch IPS FHD display, high-quality sound, enhanced with Dolby Atmos®, and 64GB of memory.

Instant Halo Keyboard

The Yoga Book’s first productivity feature is also what makes its thin and light design possible: the halo keyboard, a full touch screen keyboard with hidden lighting that combines software and hardware into an interactive touch surface. The touch screen is made of glass that has been carefully selected to give a hard, matte aesthetic, along with an anti-reflective coating, aiming to provide the best possible typing experience. The keyboard does not have any regular keys. When needed, a white border appears on the second panel. The halo keyboard constantly “learns and adapts” to the user’s typing habits, with built-in prediction and artificial learning software. This software is constantly evolving, as it is used. Together with built-in, touch-sensitive technology that allows touch to guide typing and reduce errors, the halo keyboard far surpasses the typing experience and speed of a common tablet and is comparable to that of a physical keyboard.

Real-Pen writing accessories – Dual Use Stylus pen

The smooth surface of the halo keyboard also allows for additional uses when using the Yoga Book’s real-pen, dual-use stylus. Inspired by the elegance and simplicity of notebooks, the Yoga Book knows that we still love to write and draw on paper. Users can use the real-pen, which has real ink, to jot down notes on paper or use it as a stylus to jot down notes directly on the notepad panel. Whatever they create, from sketches and drawings to artistic scribbles and notes, is instantly digitized and saved with Lenovo’s note-saving app[2 ]. About the size of a regular ink pen, the real-pen is powered by Wacom feel™ IT technology and works with the state-of-the-art electromagnetic resonance (EMR) tape, which is integrated into the multi-purpose keyboard, enabling this real-time digitization.

The multi-function keyboard and real-pen provide a natural feel, like drawing on paper instead of directly on a computer screen, without having to hide parts of the drawing with your hand or stylus. Alternatively, you can draw directly on the screen. The real-pen can draw with the precision of a pencil or brush with 2,048 levels of pressure and 100 degrees of tilt detection. Plus, you'll never need to charge or replace it, as it requires no batteries and its ink is replaced with regular ink, just like a conventional pen.

Book UI and Hinge

As a 2-in-1 device that combines hardware and software, the Yoga Book truly combines work and play in a tablet, through Book UI, the Yoga Book’s custom Android 6.0 operating system, which features the best UI features of laptops and tablets. The Book UI allows various applications to “run” automatically in multiple windows that can remain on the screen, be maximized or minimized, as well as a taskbar that keeps track of your applications, your Windows keyboard shortcuts and action keys. The additional workload can be easily handled, through the Yoga Book’s powerful Intel® Atom™ X5 processor and 4GB of memory. Windows users also have the option to work on this platform, as the Yoga Book is available on Windows 10.

Constructed from a magnesium and aluminum alloy, the Yoga Book is durable and promises to turn heads. Like all Yoga products, it features the watchband-hinge feature. This time, the hinge is smaller and features three axes, with 130 different mechanical elements, which come from 5 different materials. Having passed over 25,000 special laboratory tests, the Yoga Book's form offers easy and smooth switching between the four modes Browse, Watch, Create and Type. The Yoga Book with Android is available in Gold or Gunmetal and the Yoga Book with Windows in Carbon Black.
