After the success of 1 billion downloads on Google's Play Store and the introduction of the Stories feature, which is really similar to Snapchat, Instagram will now recommend Stories for users based on their preferences.
The app will start showing users in a Stories bar, just above the Explore tab. Stories will be curated from accounts that users follow, and it seems that the new feature has already started rolling out to everyone. Recommendations will be based on the people that users follow, as well as the topics that interest them. The announcement says that Instagram is accessed by 100 million people per day, which means that we're talking about a fifth of Instagram's 500 million monthly users. With this new feature, Instagram aims to keep users on the app, and even help them find new users to follow. The Explore section allows users to find new accounts to follow and check out the content they've shared on Instagram. This feature is offered by many other social networks, including Snapchat. Instagram recently introduced the New Events channel to show videos from events taking place around the world.
The new feature also comes with the option for users to personalize their experience and watch only the videos that interest them.
