Microsoft's indifference to Brexit

The United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union, but Microsoft doesn't see this decision as enough to make changes to the way they do business in the country.

In a recent statement, CEO Satya Nadella explained that Microsoft will continue to see the UK as one of its top markets, which is why it will continue to invest in local markets just as before.

Microsoft currently has about 3,000 employees in the UK and six offices in total, with the local market accounting for about 6 to 7 percent of the company’s annual revenue. In addition, Microsoft has data centers in the UK, and a potential exit from the EU would lead to changes that could impact customer data and privacy demands.
Nadella downplays the rumors, pointing out the changes

"When it comes to the UK, we've been here for 30 years and we'll continue to invest because it's a huge market and it's a position that's quite key for us. We're a global company – 55% of our revenue is global – so what happens in the UK and the world matters a lot to us.".

But if it were up to Microsoft, the UK would not leave the European Union.
Michel Van der Bel explained:

“Our view is that the UK should remain in the EU. By remaining in the EU, the UK supports important criteria for the continuation and future of investment by Microsoft and others.”
