Apple announces iPhone and iPhone 6s Plus as the world's most powerful smartphones
They will be available for purchase from September 25th
Apple has just unveiled its best smartphones that will soon be available on the market, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. According to the Cupertino company, these should be the most powerful smartphones in the world.
Apple's statement is quite bold, to say the least, and many phone manufacturers may have laughed when they heard it, but here's what we should expect from the latest additions to the iPhone family.
First of all, both the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will come with iOS 9 pre-installed, including the new 3D Touch experience.
Internally, Apple confirmed that both smartphones are equipped with the third-generation 64-bit A9 chip, which boasts 70% faster CPU and 90% faster GPU performance than the A8 chip. Additionally, the new chip is said to offer much better power efficiency for longer battery life.
The new iPhone 6s smartphones also have faster Wi-Fi and LTE Advanced, something that many smartphones have had for some time now. They can also support up to 23 LTE bands, making them ideal for global browsing.
On the back, the devices feature a 12-megapixel iSight camera with advanced pixel technology and an Apple-designed image signal sensor. A second 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with Retina Flash is located on the front.
The iPhone 6s is powered by a non-removable 1,810 mAh battery, while the iPhone 6s Plus contains a high-capacity 2,915 mAh battery.
Pricing options and availability
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in gold, silver, space gray and rose gold metallic finishes with 24 monthly installments starting at $27 (US) and $31 (US), respectively, from Apple retail stores in the United States, select carriers and authorized retailers .
It will also be available for pre-order, starting September 12, with sales starting on September 25. Customers in the following countries will be able to pre-order the new iPhones: US, UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.
It's also worth noting that the iPhone 6s will cost $199 (16GB) in the US, with a new two-year agreement, while the 64GB model will be available for $299. The 128GB variant will be the most expensive at $399 for the two-year agreement.
The iPhone 6s Plus can be had for $299 (16GB), $399 (64GB), or $499 (128GB). These prices require new two-year contracts on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
