Microsoft recently announced a short-term bug bounty program for its new browser codenamed Spartan , which is expected to be released in late July alongside the new Windows 10 operating system.

The company intends to give up to $15,000 for finding vulnerabilities in the upcoming browser, while as it announced, the submission of relevant bug reports can be made until June 22.

The new vulnerability bounty program is similar to the bug bounty program the company ran for Internet Explorer 11, aimed at identifying vulnerabilities in the browser before its official release.

"Platform security is a top priority for the team working on Spartan development," said Jason Shirk, security engineer at the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC).

"This bug bounty program aims to incentivize security researchers to identify and report vulnerabilities to Microsoft during the Windows 10 Technical Preview release period, rather than after the official release of the browser, in order to minimize the impact on end users," the company explains.

Top prizes will be awarded for identifying high-critical remote code execution vulnerabilities and sandbox escape bugs, while smaller prizes, ranging from $500 to $6,000, are available for less significant vulnerabilities. In special cases, the top prize can exceed $15,000.

The company will accept bug reports for the next two months, specifically until June 22nd.

More details about the Bug Bounty program can be found on the official Microsoft.
