The U.S. music industry's copyright protection division is suing Ford and GM because the companies sell cars with CD players that can copy music to the vehicle's hard drive.
The Alliance of Artists and Recording Companies (AARC), a nonprofit group representing over 300,000 artists, filed the lawsuit against the car companies and their infotainment system technology suppliers, Denso and Clarion.
The lawsuit concerns a feature, the JukeBox function, which is available for cars dating from 2011 onwards.
