The iPhone 6 is expected to feature a sapphire-coated display, but Apple won't be the first to get it, as Kyocera has already partnered with Verizon to release the Kyocera Brigadier with a Sapphire Shield display.
The screen is scratch and drop resistant. The device has a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels that can be used with gloves and wet fingers. It has an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP front camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.4 GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. The Brigadier has 16GB of built-in memory that can be expanded via microSD card. It comes with LTE connectivity and a non-removable 3100 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The device is IP68 certified and Military Standard 810G. It is resistant to dust, shock, sudden changes, extreme temperatures, rain, low pressure, sunlight, humidity and of course it can withstand being submerged in water for a long time.
As we can see below, it's not a stylish device but it's aimed at a different audience for its features and durability. Its price without a contract is $399.99, the same as the LG G Vista that was also announced yesterday exclusively by Verizon.
