If you tried to install OS X software updates this weekend, you may have noticed that ... they didn't. As MacRumors points out, OS X users trying to install software updates through the App Store have been receiving error messages warning of an invalid certificate. The reason? Apple apparently forgot to renew the SSL certificate.
The warning message states, “This server’s certificate is not valid. You may be connecting to a server impersonating “swscan.apple.com,” which could put your confidential information at risk.” Some users are reporting seeing an “NSURLErrorDomain error -1012” instead of the warning. MacRumors speculates that the invalid certificate may have caused this error as well.
