Turkey demands removal of more than 100 tweets

A month earlier, Twitter and Turkey reached an agreement, which was in fact a compromise on Twitter's part, and which provided for the removal of certain Tweets in order for the social network to remain available to the country's millions of users.

The Turkish government had banned access to the social network after corruption allegations against Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan were made public, and it was decided to regulate the use of the traffic.

The lifting of the Twitter ban followed a decision by the country's Supreme Court, which ruled that this move violates freedom of expression and the individual rights of citizens.

Now, Turkish courts have filed five separate lawsuits, asking Twitter to remove more than 100 tweets. Most of them are not visible to users within the country, but are still available to users in other countries.
