Russian government officials have reportedly decided to replace Apple iPads with Samsung tablets, citing espionage risks.
Minister Nikolai Nikiforov confirmed this decision, noting that Samsung tablets are particularly secure and can be used to handle confidential data.
"Some of the information exchanged during government council meetings is confidential, and Samsung devices fully meet these requirements, and have also passed a very strict certification system," Nikiforov stressed.
The minister also pointed out that Russian officials are well aware that American services are expected to significantly increase the volume of information they intercept, especially in this politically turbulent period, and stressed the need for careful selection of the government's IT partners.
