This move is part of Apple's broader strategy to strengthen American industry and consolidate its presence in the United States.

Broadcom is part of American Manufacturing Program (AMP) , an initiative launched last year to boost manufacturing in the U.S. As part of Apple’s largest commitment to AMP to date, Broadcom will invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. This facility will produce advanced RF components, including FBAR filters, as well as wireless connectivity technologies.

FBAR filters are critical for improving signal quality and device performance, making them essential for the development of modern wireless technologies.

This is not the first collaboration between the two companies. Apple and Broadcom have a long history of working together, and this new phase of their partnership further accelerates their commitment to American manufacturing and innovation. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, said:

“The advanced components manufactured in Fort Collins are essential to delivering the incredible performance and connectivity our customers expect, and we are proud to deepen our investments in U.S.-based suppliers who share our commitment to excellence and innovation. We are grateful to the President and his administration for supporting important projects like this.“

Apple’s investment in Broadcom is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the American economy and drive innovation in the United States. Apple has committed to investing $600 billion in the United States over four years, a move aimed at boosting local manufacturing and creating new jobs. This strategy is especially important at a time when the global supply chain is facing challenges and companies are looking for ways to reduce their dependence on foreign suppliers.

Broadcom chips power custom RF components, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and other networking semiconductors found across Apple's product line. These components are critical to the performance of Apple devices, enabling the seamless connectivity and high performance that users have come to expect from the company's products.

The partnership with Broadcom ensures that Apple will continue to provide high-quality products while supporting American industry.

Apple's decision to invest in American manufacturing facilities and partner with Broadcom reflects a broader trend in the United States to bring manufacturing back within the country's borders. This trend has been fueled by a desire for greater autonomy in the production of critical technologies and the need to strengthen national security by reducing dependence on foreign sources.
