The head of the Hellenic National Security Service, Theodoros Dravillas, will be summoned to a hearing before the Institutions and Transparency Committee tomorrow, pursuant to the procedure of Article 43 A of the Parliament's Rules of Procedure. According to the provisions of the rules, "discussions on the activities of the Hellenic National Security Service are confidential and the members of the Institutions Committee are committed to maintaining this confidentiality even after the end of their term of office.".

Mr. Dravilla's hearing coincides with the revelations about the wiretapping of phones by the US National Security Committee. However, the decision of the Institutions Committee had been taken in the past and unanimously, after the publications about the possibility of wiretapping of SYRIZA executives.

According to the Regulation, "the government must, either on its own initiative or at the request of the committee, provide information on the activities of the EYP, unless there are reasons of overriding public interest or personal data, which the competent minister presents to the committee. The Committee may also summon the commander of the EYP to a hearing, in the presence of the competent minister.".
