With the release of each new iPhone comes a new wave of problems for iOS users .
In 2010, there was the so-called Antennagate, a hardware issue with the iPhone 4, where users would lose signal from the device if they held it a certain way. Then, with the release of iOS 6, there was a problem with the Maps app, which angered many users.
With the release of iOS 7 and the iPhone 5s, we have several issues to address. We present them to you and if you have identified any others, don't hesitate to report them to us.
iPhone 5s sensors calibrate
If you're planning to use your new iPhone 5s as a compass or to track your activities using its gyroscope and accelerometer, you might not be able to do so! This is because the sensors on some iPhone 5s aren't working properly.
It is currently unclear whether the problem is software or hardware, but it has been observed that many owners of the new device have reported the problem to Apple stores. If this is a hardware issue, then it is a challenge for Apple to release a new software to fix the problem. For now, the company's only solution is to replace the problematic device with a new one.
Battery drain
There have been some complaints about excessive battery drain since the last iOS update. Of course, iOS 7 is no exception. While the iPhone 5s has a long-lasting battery, the iPhone 5, in particular, seems to have a serious issue with it. The good news is that the problem doesn't seem to affect all users, but only a portion.
If your device is draining its battery too quickly, here's what you can do:
- Turn off App Update History by going to Settings>General>App Update History. You can also turn off app updates by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turning off automatic downloads and updates at the bottom.
- Turn off Parallax.
- Turn off location services in apps by going to Settings>Privacy>Location Services.
- Lower the screen brightness by going to Settings>Wallpapers & Brightness and disable automatic brightness switching.
iMessage vulnerability
iMessage has been buggy in previous versions of iOS, but after the release of iOS 7, a percentage of users are no longer able to send messages via iMessage. If you’re experiencing this issue, the first thing you should try is restarting your device and hoping it works again. If that doesn’t work, simply turn off iMessage and send messages through another service. To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. For some, the issue can be resolved simply by going to and changing the Messages Settings.
Apple is aware of this issue and will provide a fix in an upcoming software update.
Students bypass iPad
Some teachers aren't too happy with the latest mobile OS updates. Apparently, they've realized that students can now bypass the restrictions on devices used by schools. iOS 7 has removed the supervised profiles that were installed on devices. These profiles allowed administrators to remotely manipulate permissions and filter the apps that students used. Now, students can surf without being disturbed.
The only way to fix this issue is to prevent the OS upgrade. Apple is aware of this issue and plans to release an update later this month.
Logging out of apps
Some users are experiencing issues with apps constantly disconnecting them. Mailbox and Snapchat seem to be the two most common culprits.

Delays when typing
Some users are noticing delays when typing on their iPhones and iPads after upgrading to iOS 7. If you're experiencing the same problem, first try resetting your iPhone by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.
