Microsoft has re-released the November 2024 Security Updates (SU) for Exchange Server, addressing a critical issue that caused transport rules to stop working after a certain period of time in some environments.

This update comes in response to widespread reports from administrators experiencing email delivery issues after the initial release on November 12, 2024.
The re-released update, named Nov 2024 SUv2, resolves mail delivery issues affecting customers using transport rules (mail flow) or data loss prevention (DLP) rules.
Microsoft advises administrators to take specific actions based on the current Exchange Server configuration:

For those who manually installed the original update (November 2024 SUv1) and are not using transport rules or DLP, it is recommended that you install Nov 2024 SUv2 for improved checking of the X-MS-Exchange-P2FromRegexMatch.
Servers that received the update through Microsoft/Windows Update and are not using transport rules or DLP will automatically download and install Nov 2024 SUv2 in December 2024.
Administrators who installed the original update and then uninstalled it to address transport rules issues should install the SUv21 .
Those who never installed the original update are recommended to proceed with installing Nov 2024 SUv21.

Microsoft researchers noted that the Exchange Server team has emphasized the importance of running the Exchange Health Checker script after installing security updates to identify common configuration issues and determine whether additional steps are required.
