What's new in Honkai: Star Rail patch 1.2?

Honkai: Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail just released update 1.2, and it's a big one. Not only does it include new story and characters, but there's also new content to explore, as well as new relics.

It can be overwhelming to log in and see a bunch of red dots all over everything, indicating all the new content, so below you'll find a breakdown of the biggest updates in Honkai: Star Rail's 1.2 update.

The story of Xianzhou Luofu continues in Trailblaze

The Trailblaze Missions centered around Xianzhou Luofu are nearing completion in the new patch, completing our journey through this lore-rich region. We still have questions, so it looks like there may be more, but this new story addition adds the final (?) boss fight ,just like Cocolia's in Jarilo-VI.

As you progress through the new story missions, you'll travel through two new maps: Alchemy Commission and Scalegorge Waterscape. Each of these comes with a new set of chests to find, puzzles to solve, and a new type of villain to defeat.

There are new boss fights

There is a new boss in Stagnant Shadow (the ones you have to fight for character leveling materials) and a new boss in Echo of War (the ones you have to fight for trace leveling materials).

Both are locked behind the story, and Blade uses materials from both to level up, so if you've pulled Blade from the gacha, then you'll need to complete the story to properly level him up.

Blade is out now, with Kafka coming later

As mentioned, Blade, the new five-star Wind Destruction character, is out now. He consumes his own HP to deal massive damage (and regain some of that HP back), so if that kind of gameplay appeals to you, he'll be on the gacha banner for about three weeks.

After her rotation on August 8th, Kafka, the Lightning Nihility Stellaron Hunter that everyone has been waiting for, will be joining the game via gacha. Along with her, a new four-star character named Luka will be making his debut. Luka is a Physical Nihility character.

Of course, alongside these new character launches come their personal Light Cones, which are also tied to gacha.

Forgotten Hall and Simulated Universe have new additions

Forgotten Hall now has 15 new stages themed around the Xianzhou Luofu region, and you’ll receive a free Yukong for completing at least one of the stages. This also means there are more Stellar Jades to farm by earning stars in each level. You’ll need to beat the Trailblaze quest “Xianzhou Luofu – A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant” to unlock this new section.

The Simulated Universe also features an additional world (World 7) where you will have to fight the fearsome deer boss from the Xianzhou Luofu story. You must complete the Trailblaze quest “Xianzhou Luofu – Humming Antlers, Entwined Horns” and World 6 to unlock World 7.

Seele's ultimate ability will no longer look like a flash bang with a new "Eye comfort mode" setting

You can now enable an “eye comfort mode” in the settings to reduce the flashy effects of certain skills in battle, like Seele’s. This feature was long overdue, as many users felt like they were getting a personal explosion in the face every time they used Seele’s ultimate ability.
