Wave 5 is coming to the game next week on July 12th and is included in the Booster Course Pass, which costs $24.99, and as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptions. Here are the tracks coming to the game in Wave 5:
- Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
- Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart Double Dash)
- Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
- Squeaky Clean Sprint (brand new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track)
- Los Angeles Laps (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
- Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii)
- Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour)
You can see all eight of these tracks in action in the Wave 5 trailer below:
Suggestion: Mario Kart 8 will be coming to Nintendo Wii U in May
Wave 5 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass also brings four new drivers to the game: Kamek (middleweight class), Birdo (middleweight class), Petey Piranha (heavyweight class), and Wiggler (heavyweight class).
There are some great options in this pack, especially the addition of several Mario Kart Tour. These are tracks that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players are less likely to be familiar with, given that they come from the mobile game – so each one will feel like a new addition.
As for the new track, Squeaky Clean Sprint, it looks like a lot of fun. Shrinking down to miniature size to explore a bathtub and its surroundings seems like a nice nod to the upcoming Pikmin 4 – and there are also some references to the Gex: Deep Cover Gecko's Mystery TV stage, for all the Gexheads out there.
There's only one wave of tracks left for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass – and plenty of classic tracks that haven't been added yet. For now, we can look forward to the release of this final wave, which is expected to arrive sometime later in 2023.
Wave 5 will begin operating next week, on July 12th.
