Nintendo has confirmed that the next Mario racing game, Mario Kart 8, will be coming to consoles in May 2014.
Senior Research Analyst David Gibson took to Twitter to share Nintendo's future plans. Mario Kart 8 will be released in Japan in May 2014, and given the company's previous games, it's safe to assume that the game will make its global debut in the same month.
The game is designed to be played with a gamepad, and a faster launch from the gamepad will encourage players to play faster, without using a TV.
Nintendo has also prepared an English version of the slides and statement it made, which fellow gamers can find on its website .
