On Monday, Microsoft Outlook users reported a bombardment of spam in their inboxes as the service suffered another disruption following a recent outage.
Many users have complained that the newest version of Microsoft Outlook fails to adequately block spam messages, causing problems for many people.
“I’m almost at the point of giving up Outlook ,” exclaimed one furious Twitter user . “The amount of spam I’ve been receiving lately is just outrageous!”

A wave of complaints has poured in via Twitter, with users reporting a flood of unnecessary emails that has caused them to turn off their Outlook. According to reports on Down Detector from Monday morning, the service has also experienced multiple outages.

According to some, Outlook 's spam filter has stopped working properly and may be causing this problem.
Sportswriter Georgie Bingham took to Twitter to ask if anyone else had experienced the same annoying problem with Hotmail – even though the filter was set to the highest privacy, spam was still making its way into her inbox. Her tweet garnered several responses from those in a similar situation.
Microsoft initially stated that Outlook 's spam filter was not affected. However, they are still asking some users to contact them directly to discuss this issue further. We've reached out to Microsoft for comment , but have not yet received a response.
If you're constantly bombarded with spam in your Outlook, it might be wise to turn off notifications for any email apps connected to that account on your mobile device. This will prevent these unwanted notifications from constantly appearing, allowing you more peace and quiet.
This is the second Outlook service outage this year, following an extended outage last month that also affected other Microsoft services , such as Teams and Xbox Live .
How to set up Microsoft's spam filter
Microsoft Outlook is set to block spam emails by default. To be extra safe, you can boost your protection level by simply clicking Home > Junk, and then selecting junk email options. This way, you can be sure that all unwanted emails will stay safely out of your inbox!

To protect yourself from unwanted emails, you can add specific names and web domains to a blocked senders list. To do this, first visit the Outlook settings page, then select Mail > Junk Email and select the email address you want to block under the Block Senders and select Add.
By typing domain names in the blocked domains and selecting the add, you can easily customize your settings to block access to specific websites. Remember that any changes must be saved to take effect!
