EA has revealed details about its upcoming Sims game , Project Rene , as promised – during a livestream today, it revealed that multiplayer will play a major role in the game’s “experience,” but not at the expense of the single-player gameplay that has helped make the franchise so successful. Keep in mind that the new game “will not be an MMO,” he was quick to point out, so don’t expect something like World of Warcraft with characters speaking some sort of “simlish” language.
Instead, EA used the new game’s improved customization as an example, showing how you can change every detail of a piece of furniture, from its color to the materials it’s made of.

He said that this feature can also be used with other players in real time. From what we hear, such features will be an extra addition to what Sims players have come to expect.
“We know our players want to have that intimate, personal experience,” Rodiek says.

During the livestream, the developers also highlighted a major change for The Sims Project Rene beyond the multiplayer option — its cross-platform functionality.
The game is being developed for both mobile and PC, with the goal of allowing players to transfer their progress between the two platforms without any issues.

According to Rodiek, the goal is to make all of a player's information easily accessible, regardless of the device they're using.
This was shared during the stream, and EA plans to continue sharing details about the game leading up to its release, through a more "open" development process.
