The entire iPhone 15 lineup is said to include the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro. In a tweet spotted by MacRumors, screen analyst Ross Young said he expects Apple to make the screen cutout standard on all iPhones in 2023.

Dynamic Island is a pill-shaped area that surrounds the Face ID sensors and the front camera on iPhone 14 Pro models. The feature can display system notifications for things such as incoming phone calls and the Face ID authentication message and will also work with Live Activities in third-party apps when iOS 16.1 is released later in the year.

Additionally, the company will reportedly keep its 120Hz ProMotion display technology exclusively on Pro models due to a supply chain that “cannot support” the feature on more affordable models. In a follow-up tweet, Young said that Apple is more likely to bring the technology to less expensive iPhones in 2024.

Rolling out the Dynamic Island standard to every new iPhone would make a lot of sense for Apple, especially to encourage developers to take advantage of the feature . Some apps are already using the cutout for fun features . When iOS 16.1 arrives later this year, Dynamic Island will also work with Apple ’s Live Activities API . It’s also a feature that would make the standard iPhone more appealing to consumers who are still holding onto their current device . While the iPhone 12 was a big upgrade over the iPhone 11, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 were less exciting.
