
As you probably know, Apple has officially released the new iPhone operating system , iOS 16 , to all its users . Many iPhone owners have made the upgrade or are considering it, however, some may be disappointed to find that the battery percentage indicator in the status bar is not working after installing iOS 16.

As MacRumors reports, this is not a bug . Apple updated a support document to confirm that the battery percentage will not appear in the status bar on some older iPhone models that upgrade to iOS 16. Specifically, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini users will only see a visual representation of the battery level and not the percentage.

Adding a battery percentage to the status bar was high on the list of features users iPhone , and Apple has finally given them the ability, along with a number of other new features, in iOS 16. The presence of the percentage allows users to see exactly how much battery they have left without having to scroll through it. However, this is unfortunately not the case for the older, aforementioned models. Apple has not explained why these four iPhone models are unable to display the percentage.

If you have an iPhone that supports showing battery percentage, you can turn it on by going to Settings > Battery. iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), iPhone 8 or earlier, and all iPad models always show the battery percentage in the status bar. Another way to view battery information is to add the Batteries widget to your Home screen or Today View.
