Apple discovered a problem that can cause audio issues on selected iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices and cause speaker failure. If this happens on your phone, Apple will fix it for free.

"Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience audio issues due to a component that may fail in the receiver module. The affected devices were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021," Apple said on a support page.
“If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro is not emitting sound from the receiver when making or receiving calls, it may be eligible for service,” the support page continues.
The issue only applies to iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro phones. So if you're experiencing audio issues with an iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, you won't be eligible for this free repair program (although your device may still be under warranty, depending on when you purchased it).

Let's assume that your phone has a sound problem and you want to fix it. In this case, you can find an authorized Apple service provider, schedule an appointment at an Apple retail store, or contact Apple Support to arrange a mail-in service through the Apple Repair Center. Either way, Apple will ensure that the sound works on your phone without charging you.
Something worth noting, is that Apple says: "If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any damage that affects the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved before repair. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair."

Finally, Apple will cover your device for up to two years from the date of purchase with this program. This gives you an extra year compared to the standard warranty.
