Google Docs continue to be one of the best productivity applications on the web and certainly allow us to do our work with ease. However, that does not mean it is perfect and Google is constantly looking for ways to improve it. The latest feature of Google Docs adds a useful new text selection function that will make editing a little faster.

Google announced on its Workspace blog that Docs users can now make multiple text selections within a document. The most useful part of the announcement is that this will allow users to delete, copy, paste, and format each selection at once.

The method for selecting multiple items in Google Docs is different depending on the operating system you're using. For Windows or Chrome OS, select the first block of text and use Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Left/Right Arrow to make the next selection. For MacOS , the combination is Ctrl + ⌘ + Shift + Left/Right Arrow. From there, you can edit or format the selected text.
The new feature should appeal to power users, making document editing and saving them a lot of time. Instead of having to edit one text at a time, you can now edit multiple sections at once.
The feature can also be used for other things besides formatting — let's say you want to cut some paragraphs and move them or you want to add a comment that is related to multiple sentences. Multi-selection makes this process very easy.

The new feature will be available to all Workspace users, as well as to Legacy G Suite Basic and Business users. Google says it will be enabled by default and will roll out within 15 days, starting from May 25, so you may not have received it yet.
