A major cyberattack resulted in the disruption of the city of Saint John 's systems .

City officials announced the incident Sunday night in a statement released on social media.
The attack led to unauthorized access to the city's website, online payment systems, emails and customer service applications.
“We do not yet know if any personal information stored on our networks has been compromised,” the officials said. “As a precaution, we recommend that users of our systems regularly check their bank accounts and credit cards for any suspicious activity.”
The City of Saint John first posted that its website was “temporarily unavailable” early Saturday afternoon. However, it had not yet provided further details about why the site was down.
The city said it has collaborated with federal and provincial agencies and is working with its partners to help manage any risks.
“At this time, we are continuing our efforts to contain and eliminate the attack and restore our systems,” he said. “There is no timeline yet for full recovery.”
The City of Saint John said it has stopped accepting payments for any services it provides, such as water bills and parking tickets, until systems are restored, adding that no late fees will apply.
The 911 contact center remains operational for all emergencies, and calls to the city's customer service number will continue to be prioritized.
