Resident Evil Village: release date leaked due to breach

Capcom recently suffered a data breach that resulted in the leak of sensitive information. One of them is the release date of Resident Evil Village . The upcoming survival horror game is the sequel to Resident Evil 7, which is the second most successful video game ever created by Capcom.

Capcom was reportedly hit by a major cyberattack, with hackers gaining access to the company's private server and stealing a lot of information before the company was able to push them back. Despite initial reports to the contrary, the malicious actors may have obtained the personal information of up to 350,000 Capcom customers. Fortunately, credit card information was not affected, but that doesn't change the severity of the breach and its significant implications.

But along with this personal customer information, the hackers also appear to have gotten hold of important information about Capcom's upcoming releases. This information was shared on ResetEra , along with a copy of the ransom note that the malicious actors sent to Capcom when they encrypted the company's files. There are quite a few important things revealed in this leak , especially regarding the newest game in the Resident Evil series. The leak claims that Resident Evil Village is scheduled to release in April and that Capcom will release a demo first. A version of Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus VR headset has also been leaked , as well as a new Resident Evil multiplayer game in the form of a battle royale of sorts .

Leaks are generally the least reliable way to get information about video game releases and are generally not supported. And of course, the information from all these people is much more important than the release of a game.

This is not the first time that important video game information has been leaked online, and it certainly won't be the last. There are many dangerous and malicious hackers lurking around to obtain sensitive data. So what companies need to do is strengthen the security of their systems, keep them constantly updated, and properly train their staff so that they know how to react when faced with such situations.
