Facebook today launched Hacker Plus, the first "loyalty program" for the company's bug bounty program.
Modeled after loyalty programs used by airlines and hotels, Facebook said Hacker Plus will offer additional bonuses and special perks to bug hunters based on their previous reports .
Every researcher who has submitted or will submit bugs to Facebook's bug bounty program from now on is automatically included and ranked in the Hacker Plus reward program.
Facebook said it plans to "regularly evaluate" the performance of security based on the cumulative quantity and rating of their bug submissions over the past year.
Based on scores, bug hunters will be placed in one of five championship tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
Each league has its own benefits. The most common benefit is an additional bonus for successful bug submissions.
“Starting at 12:00 AM UTC on October 9, 2020, bounty rewards will include the relevant Hacker Plus bonus on top of the total bounty they have collected so far,” Facebook said today.
"Researchers in our Bronze league will receive a 5% bonus on top of every bounty they receive. Diamond League members will earn a 20% bonus on top of every bounty award they receive," the company.
“Researchers in our highest tier leagues – Gold, Platinum, and Diamond – will receive exclusive invites to test new features and products before they are released.
"Diamond and Platinum league members will also receive invitations to all-expenses-paid bug bounty events (events may change in accordance with the company's COVID-19)," Facebook said.
Bug hunters will change tiers and will be able to track their loyalty level ranking on the bug bounty program's Facebook profile page.
