Amazon is the world's largest online marketplace . In e-commerce, consumer trust is everything. That's why Amazon has tried to take some steps to keep away from its platform e-commerce scammers . However, sometimes, some of them can get past the first layer of defense. This is where Amazon's new division comes into play.
Amazon is creating a new division to police merchants who try to promote fake products or defraud users, with the company's ultimate goal being to bring them to justice.

Amazon already has a robust anti-fraud department that, in many cases, is able to block suspicious products and malicious merchants before they can even list an item for sale. Last year, the company created Project Zeroto thwart fraudsters.
Even with all these preventive measures, some scammers manage to gain access to the company's online marketplace.
The newly formed Counterfeit Crimes Unit is a multidisciplinary team of experienced investigators, former federal prosecutors and data analysts tasked with investigating cases in which sellers manage to get past Amazon’s first layer of defense. The task force members will access Amazon’s data , extract information from payment processors and use that information to uncover the true identities of the fraudsters.

With the help of law enforcement, Amazon could bring fraudsters to justice. That is its goal. Members of the Counterfeit Crimes Unit will also work directly with brands to conduct joint investigations or to discuss their findings from individual investigations.
