A Counter-Strike player named Shayene “shAy” Victorio has been sentenced to 116 years in prison on fraud. As reported by Universo Online, Victorio was accused of taking money from users for her online store, but never delivering the products they had purchased.
Victorio became famous playing the game Counter-Strike: she even earned the title Global Offensive at a professional level. However, shortly after, she left the world of gaming and got involved in social media. In fact, she managed to become a successful Influencer, with tens of thousands of followers and fans.
The former Brazilian player also ran an online store from 2013 to 2017. However, according to the information, Victorio never delivered the products that several users had ordered from it , even after they had paid for them. She also never returned their money. The exact amount has not been disclosed.
Thus, Victorio was sentenced to 116 years in prison, even though Brazilian law provides for a maximum sentence of 30 years for an offense.
Both Victorio and her lawyer are appealing the case, saying her former partners and ex-husband are responsible for the fraud. Her lawyer added that a sentence of 116 years is “inhumane.”.
“We will appeal against the sentence that we consider inhumane, awaiting a new decision and under the pretext of the principle of innocence,” her lawyer told Universo Online.
Victorio also posted on her Instagram account that she has not been arrested yet because she is in the process of appealing. However, if the appeal fails, which is highly unlikely, only then can she be detained.
