Did you know that there's an Amazon dating site where you can "buy" a partner? The satirical website was created by Ani Acopian, Suzy Shinn, and Morgan Gruer, in collaboration with entertainment company Thinko .
Just like with products for sale on Amazon, on this site you can see people who have a price tag! Each person also comes with a description about themselves, their hobbies, and you can even choose the height you're interested in!
The strange thing is that all people "for sale" seem to have the same qualities: they are romantic in words and actions, seeking quality time, physical contact, and gifts.
Once you have selected the person you are interested in, all you have to do is click the “Buy” button. A confirmation page will then appear, with details about your purchase. However, you are not actually purchasing the person you selected.
The application seems quite humorous and could be a pleasant pastime, however there are some objections.
One of them is that the pricing of people on the site is different, depending on their background. One tweet against the site states: “extremely good idea to put buy buttons for black people during black history month.”
Nevertheless, many people found the project funny. Moreover, those who will be alone on Valentine's Day found some solace on the website!
Additional humorous features
If you are planning to purchase a human for you, don't forget to also read the NGA (Non-Ghosting Agreement), available in the legal section of the app.
Essentially, this means that you cannot haunt the other person unless you have valid reasons, such as "illness that led to hospitalization, death of a family member, or death of one of the parties involved in the agreement!"
