MX Linux 19 RC 1: From iGuRu.gr we highly recommended the MX Linux distribution. It is a distribution based on stable Debian and originated from a collaboration between the antiX and MEPIS Linux communities that has stopped development.
It uses Xfce as the default desktop, and is an operating system that combines an elegant and efficient desktop with simple settings, high stability, consistent performance (from Debian), and a minimal footprint.
In short, it is a fairly light distribution that does not sacrifice any quality.
All of the above, as well as the special tools offered by the distribution, make it very easy for Windows users who are thinking of changing operating systems.
So today, the project developers announced the first Release Candidate of MX Linux 19. The RC version of the distribution is built on Debian 10 and features a custom desktop (Xfce 4.14).
The announcement states, among other things:
“MX Linux 19 Release Candidate 1 is available for testing. It is the first release candidate. The beta version includes the latest updates from Debian 10.1 'Buster', the antiX distribution:
Xfce 4.14, GIMP 2.10.12, MESA 18.3.6, updated firmware, Debian 4.19 kernel, Firefox 69, VLC 3.0.8, Clementine 1.3.1, Thunderbird 60.8.0, LibreOffice 6.1.5 (plus security fixes), patched sudo info.
New and updated mx-apps: mx-installer (based on gazelle-installer) fixes for automount issues, MX Date and Time with easier clock settings, formatusb for formatting (meaning format) usb storage devices, mx-packageinstaller now showing version number in Flatpak applications, mx-alerts package for sending emergency messages to users, mx-updater no longer requires a password to check for updates or to install updates), new wallpaper (mx19-artwork package).
