CentOS 8: The CentOS project is a 100% compatible rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, in full compliance with Red Hat's per-distribution requirements. Yesterday at noon we published the release of the installation ISOs ahead of the official release.
So last night, the developers of the CentOS project published the announcement of the long-awaited new version: CentOS version 8.0.1905 is here.
The new release is based on the source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0, and comes in two main editions depending on your needs: CentOS Linux and CentOS Steam.
The announcement states:
There are now two ways to use the CentOS platform, CentOS Linux and CentOS Stream.
CentOS Linux is a rebuild of the freely available sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). CentOS Stream is an intermediate distribution that provides a path to participate in the creation of the next version of RHEL.
Both versions are available in offline and net-install (boot) ISOs.

CentOS Stream is a rolling distribution that acts as a middle ground between the cutting edge packages of Fedora and the stable, long-term packages of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
