Visa cards are supported by Apple Pay in Greece!

Apple Pay transforms the payment experience for consumers into an easy, secure and private way to pay. Launching first with Revolut, Apple Pay for iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Macallows customers to make quick and easy purchases in stores, in apps and on websites,using contactless payment technology and Visa tokenization.

Apple Pay works on the same contactless payment terminals that consumers already use to make transactions with their debit or credit cards. It is noted that over 90% of the terminals (POS) in Greece accept contactless transactions, while by 2020 all POS payment terminals will accept contactless transactions.

Security privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, your actual card numbers are not stored on your device or on Apple. Instead, the Visa Token Service assigns a unique device account number, and each transaction is authorized with a unique, dynamic security code with a specific duration.

Visa tokenisation technology makes e-commerce and mobile secure and simple by replacing consumer accounts with a unique digital identifier or “token” used specifically for each device. As a result, account and card data are never shared, bringing an added layer of security to digital payments.

If the iPhone is lost or stolen, the digital account number (token) stored on it can be immediately deactivated by the financial institution. The registered Visa card does not need to be removed and replaced. Consumers who use Visa cards on Apple Pay will enjoy the same benefits as when using their debit and credit cards, including fraud protection for unauthorized purchases and broad acceptance worldwide.

With iPhone and Apple Watch, customers can pay with Apple Pay in stores, restaurants, taxis and more. When you make purchases in apps or online using Safari, with Apple Pay, you don’t have to manually fill out time-consuming forms or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Every Apple Pay purchase is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.
