Samsung Galaxy Watch Active features leaked

We've known for a while now that Samsung is working on a new Tizen smartwatch, and recent reports have suggested that it could launch as the Samsung Galaxy Sport.

Samsung

This name more or less made sense given that it was supposed to be a successor to the Samsung Gear Sport, but according to new findings, the South Korean company could ultimately call it the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active.

The details discovered in the firmware files reveal that the smartwatch is called “pulse” and uses the model number SM-R500. As XDA reports, this model number is a bit odd, considering its predecessor was known as the SM-R600, but the existing data is reliable enough to believe that this is Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch.

The technical specifications mentioned by the aforementioned source in the firmware files indicate that the Galaxy Watch Active could use a 1.3-inch circular display, a slight increase from the 1.2-inch display on the Gear Sport. The same resolution (360×360 pixels) is likely to be used.

Will he make his debut later this month?

Somewhat strangely, the device is said to use a battery of just 230 mAh, less than the 300 mAh used by the 2017 model, but that's likely because they could launch different dimensions.

Apart from that, Samsung could use the Exynos 9110 processor and offer GPS, NFC, a heart rate monitor, and even LTE. However, there is no indication of other more advanced tracking features like EKG or blood pressure monitoring, as some other sources have recently reported.

There are no details on when this new smartwatch could be released, but it could be unveiled at the event taking place on February 20. This is the same date on which Samsung will debut the Galaxy S10.
