Players of Atlas, an online MMO game available on Steam, saw something very strange a few hours ago, and the reason was a compromised administrator account. What players saw were objects falling from the sky, such as planes, tanks, and even whales.

While many immediately believed it was a hacker, the game's developers have since confirmed that this is not the case. Instead, the chaos was caused by a compromised Steam administrator account.
Earlier today, Grapeshot announced on its official forum that “The account of an administrator of the game was compromised, causing chaos on one of our PVP servers. It should be noted that the chaos was not caused by a hack, exploit, or any third-party program. We have taken protective measures to ensure that something like this does not happen again.” The server where the incident occurred was rolled back 5 hours, that is, for the duration of the chaos.
The subreddit has been filled with video clips of things and whales falling from the sky, while clips showing them exploding upon impact have also received a lot of views. Many players also believe that an in-game hacker group called Black Butterfly, known for using multiple hacks and exploits, is to blame for the incident, which does not appear to be true.
Finally, Atlas is an MMO on Steam with several negative reviews. The most common comments that can be found on Steam are about hacks, exploits, glitches, and generally the poorly designed environment of the game. However, the number of daily players exceeds 30,000 according to the Steam chart.
