In preparation for the DARPA Robotics Challenge, a team at MIT received an Atlas robot and filmed an unboxing video.
The DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC) will take place this December . Seven teams will participate, each of which will program a DARPA “humanoid” robot, built by Boston Dynamics as an emergency robot, with the aim of being used in natural disasters.
They will be able to enter dangerous zones that are inhospitable to humans, collect survivors, and begin caring for them immediately.
The team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology received Atlas, which is 188 centimeters tall and weighs 149 kilograms.
