We've been hearing a lot about foldable smartphones for a while now. Big tech companies like Samsunghave been hinting that such a phone will soon be a reality. But it seems that a California-based display maker, Rouyu Technologies, has outdone the tech giants and is the first to bring a foldable smartphone, officially called FlexPai.
According to a tweet from Ice Universe, the smartphone, which was unveiled at an event held in Beijing, can be folded into a 7.8-inch and 4-inch tablet. The display is AMOLED and has a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Taking a look at the technical specifications, the FlexPai is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 processor, based on 7nm FinFET process technology with a new AI platform and 5G support. It comes in three RAM/ROM variants: 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, 8GB RAM/256GB ROM, and 8GB RAM/512GB ROM.
On the front of the device is a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual camera setup, which also doubles as a selfie camera.
While the battery capacity has not been announced yet, the FlexPai is expected to charge from 0 to 80 percent in about an hour, with the help of Ro-Charge fast charging technology.
Additionally, the FlexPai runs the company's WaterOS, based on Android Pie.
