There is an experiment that uses an orange to generate electricity and that makes us think about how great it would be to be able to use fruits or other everyday objects to control the various devices we use in our lives.
The idea of using wires to turn inanimate objects into useful, functional objects isn't brand new, but it seemed a bit too far-fetched in the past to be released to the general public. Introducing Makey Makey: an invention kit for those who use wires and clips to turn everyday objects into electronic touch pads.
The idea behind it may seem like it came straight out of some ridiculous science cartoon, but it's 100% real and easy to use. Starting out as a hugely successful Kickstarter project, makey makey aims to make the world of science and coding more accessible (and fun).
On the circuit board are colored wires with labels that say the actions they perform (space, click, arrow movements). The wires have clips on the end that connect to the object of your choice, which then synchronizes the movements with the system it is connected to – no software required. Use a game controller you have drawn on paper with a pencil to play Super Mario, turn your staircase into giant piano keys or add a little interest to your work by using jelly beans as computer keyboard buttons – there are no limits to what you can do!
