HMD , the parent company of Nokia , has signed a partnership with Zeiss, which will help improve the performance of cameras on the company's future Android devices .
The Nokia 9 will likely be the first device to feature Zeiss optics, but it's worth noting that the partnership between the two companies will include more than just one model.
Nokia and Zeiss began working together in 2004, developing camera technology introduced with the Nokia N series. The partnership continued with Windows Phones, including Lumia devices that feature Zeiss optics. A notable example is the Lumia 1020, which featured a 41-megapixel PureView camera with Zeiss technology built in.
Neither company has provided any details on when Nokia's Android smartphones with Zeiss technology will hit the market, but the camera will be a key focus for the company in several new models beyond the Nokia 9.
“Our partnership with Zeiss is an important part of our commitment to our customers for a better experience. Consumers are asking for more than just a great camera, they want a complete imaging experience that doesn’t just set the standard but redefines it. Together with Zeiss, we will deliver imaging perfection,” says an HMD spokesperson.
However, recent sources point to a Nokia 9 with a dual-lens camera and Zeiss optics.
Rumors claim that the Nokia 9 will be equipped with two 13-megapixel cameras, one of which will even function as a telephoto lens, a feature we've seen before on the iPhone 7 Plus.
However, since no details have yet been confirmed regarding the features of the new Nokia 9, we must remain cautious.
