We previously reported that HMD Global is set to launch a series of Nokia-branded smartphones over the next few years. While previous sources claimed that the Finnish company would launch five new devices in the series this year, it seems that the number will be higher.
Initially, the rumor of the release of 5 new eNokia-branded smartphones in Q-Q3 2017 was confirmed. Additionally, the sixth and seventh new models are expected to debut by the end of the year.
According to a recent NPU release, the new information comes from a Malaysian retailer who states that HMD will continue to innovate by introducing a new attractive line of Nokia smartphones.
The sixth and seventh smartphones will be released on the market by the end of 2017.
It should be noted, however, that HMD will not be showcasing the new smartphones at CES 2017, which is scheduled for January 5-8 in Las Vegas, United States. The good news is that the Finnish company has confirmed the presentation of the first Nokia-branded devices next month at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) trade show.
Among the phones that HMD is expected to launch at the end of February are the much-talked-about Nokia D1c (or Nokia D1) and the more recent Nokia E1. The Nokia D1c is a mid-range device that comes in two variants while the Nokia E1 is an entry-level device. Those of you who have been anxiously awaiting a high-end Nokia-branded smartphone, HMD will likely compensate you next month when it is rumored to be unveiled.
