HMD Global, a Finnish company, is said to be announcing its first Nokia-branded smartphones in February 2017 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The company is reportedly working with supply chain planners in Taiwan to develop four models to begin launching in the second and third quarters of next year.
Digitimes recently reported that the four new models will have screens ranging in size from 5.0 inches to 5.7 inches or Full HD resolutions according to sources. The report says that the panel suppliers are LG Display, Century Technology (CTC), and Innolux. It appears that FIH Mobile will serve as another manufacturer for the upcoming phones.
HMD Global recently announced that it will launch Nokia smartphones that focus on innovation, quality and experience.
The first Nokia smartphone to be unveiled by HMD at MWC will likely be the Nokia D1c, which is said to be available in two versions, with differences in memory capacity and screen size.
Rumor has it that the higher-priced version of the two variants of the D1C phone will cost around $200 and will feature around 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The smartphone will be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and has 16GB of internal storage, which could be expanded using a microSD card. It could also have a 16MP rear camera.
The other variant will cost around $150 and will have 2GB of RAM and a 5-inch Full HD display. It is said to have a 13MP rear camera and the same Snapdragon 430 processor. Both Nokia smartphones are expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat. More details about the phones will surely be given during the presentation at the Mobile World Congress trade show in February 2017.
