
Apple , including Kaby Lake chips that are supposed to make the company's new laptops worthy of competition, especially now that Microsoft is becoming an increasingly active player in the hardware industry.
Microsoft recently released the Surface Laptop, a device that, unlike its other models, lacks a detachable keyboard and is a direct competitor to Apple's MacBook. Therefore, this new hardware upgrade for the MacBook makes the game even more difficult.
But let's take a look at the two devices.
The screen. The 2017 MacBook has a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2304×1440 pixels and dimensions of 226 PPI and 16:10 while the Microsoft Surface Laptop has a larger 13.5-inch display with a resolution of 2256×1504 pixels and dimensions of 201 PPI and 3:2.
The processor. The Surface Laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, just like the new MacBook. In both cases, the processors can be paired with a maximum of 16GB of RAM.
Storage. Both the MacBook and Surface Laptop offer 512GB of internal SSD storage.
Graphics. In terms of graphics, Microsoft's computer offers an i7 configuration with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 while Apple offers Intel HD Graphics 615.
The port. The MacBook has a single USB-C port, which can be used for anything including charging, VGA, HDMI, or DisplayPort, while the Surface Laptop offers many more options, including USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, Surface Connect, and a headphone jack.
The price. You can get the Apple MacBook for $1,599 while the Surface Laptop is $2,199.
