Asus announced the ZenFone AR , its first Tango and Daydream-enabled smartphone , in January of this year, but it hasn't been released yet. There aren't many phones that support Google's Tango, with the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro among them.
The ZenFone AR supports Google's Daydream platform, another feature not found on many phones. However, while the ZenFone AR brings many exciting features such as Tango support that ensures applicability across a variety of activities, the phone has yet to make its debut.
Asus CEO Jerry Shen recently shed some light on the matter and revealed that the ZenFone AR will be released in the US in July. It will be exclusive to Verizon, but no details have been released on the exact release date or price. Jerry Shen emphasized that the company will not charge more for its new device than the Galaxy S8, which means that the ZenFone AR could sell for $800.
What makes the ZenFone AR special is the number of cameras and 3D sensors. It should be noted that so far 100 Tango apps are available and their number will increase to over 1,000 by next year.
The difference between the ZenFone AR and the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is its slimmer and more elegant design.
The ZenFone AR's three rear cameras will take care of motion tracking, depth sensing, and image capture using a 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor. To support Tango and Daydream, the ZenFone AR comes with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 and 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
