As expected, Xiaomi announced its new flagship, the Mi 6, during an event held in Beijing today. The device comes with almost all the specifications and design elements that various sources have been reporting for so long.
Xiaomi's Mi 6 is the first smartphone from a Chinese manufacturer to run on Qualcomm's latest 10nm Snapdragon platform with an octa-core CPU and a maximum clock speed of 2.45GHz. The chipset will work in conjunction with the Adreno 540 graphics processing unit, which is 25% faster than the Adreno 530 launched last year.
The design of the new flagship brings improvements compared to its predecessor. It has a metal frame made of stainless steel and 3D glass on the front with water resistance. Under the Full HD 5.15-inch display, the Mi 6 has a Qualcomm fingerprint sensor. On the back we find a dual camera with optical zoom that helps in taking accurate shots even at a long distance. It also has a 12MP wide-angle lens with four-axis OIS stabilization as well as a 12MP telephoto lens. The secondary camera is 8MP with portrait orientation and enhanced depth of field.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with dual speakers for advanced stereo effect on both the top and bottom. The battery capacity on the new smartphone is 3,350mAh, larger than that of the Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 and Huawei P10.
The new flagship is available in silver, black, and blue. The model with 64GB of storage will cost $360, while the one with 128GB will cost $420.
