It's now known that HMD Global is expected to relaunch the Nokia 3310 later this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The upcoming device will be available for purchase exclusively at Carphone Warehouse in the UK.
The new Nokia 3310, as we mentioned above, will be presented tomorrow at Mobile World Congress with two different devices: the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5.
HMD Global has yet to announce whether the new Nokia 3310 will be released globally or only in select countries, but considering that 126 million units of the original Nokia 3310 were sold globally 17 years ago, it's probably safe to say that the new version will be released in a lot of countries.
A report from Mobile Today reveals that Carphone Warehouse will be the retailer that HMD Global has (initially?) chosen to partner with in the UK. The retailer will be able to exclusively sell the device in the UK.
By relaunching the 3310 model, HMD Global reportedly wants to satisfy the needs of the buying public who are still interested in durable devices and extended battery life.
Rumors say that the new Nokia 3310 will have roughly the same design as its predecessor, but will be lighter and thinner. In addition, the phone could come with a larger color display that uses Series 30+ UI (user interface), which will allow users to view more content. The new Nokia 3310 will be available in red, green, yellow, black, gray and blue colors.
The 2017 version of the device is expected to cost €59 or £50.
According to Chinese website Vtech, the new Nokia 3310 will feature an 84×84 color display.
According to well-known leaker Evan Blass, you can imagine the device if you think of an old Nokia 3310 combined with a new Nokia 150.
Few more Nokia 3310 deets:
-runs Series 30+ w color scrn
-multiple colors, faceplates poss. swappable
– think: mashup of old 3310 & new 150.— Evan Blass (@evleaks) February 24, 2017
Those of you who remember Snake, one of the games that came with the old Nokia 3310, are probably wondering if the new device will include it in the modern version. At the moment, there are no rumors that confirm or rule this out.
