Warning from the EU for Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter!

Last May Microsoft, , Facebook Google and Twitter signed a code of conduct for the more effective regulation of hate speech. However, it seems that the giants have not responded satisfactorily to their commitment, resulting in the European Commission taking a position on the issue. Specifically, in a recent announcement, it stated that if companies do not contribute to the fight against hate speech and verbal violence, it will be forced to take more drastic measures by addressing the law.eu wants microsoft and google to combat hate speech for real this time 510725 2

Essentially, the companies are not making much of an effort to combat the appearance of rhetorical violence as they do not adhere to the original code of conduct that stipulated that illegal content actions should be reported within twenty-four hours. According to sources, the giants review only 40% of the recorded cases within a twenty-four-hour period, which leads to the accumulation of 80% over the course of just two days. Therefore, the goal can certainly be achieved if those involved give greater importance to their work.

According to BTimes, YouTube is the fastest in reporting hate speech reports, while Twitter is the slowest. However, in general, neither company responds effectively, with only 316 cases receiving a response out of a total of 600, and only 163 being deleted.

The European Commission therefore wants a more effective approach to companies, which if not achieved as soon as possible will bring them face to face with the law.

At present, none of the mentioned companies (Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter) that have received the warning from the European Commission have issued any official statement on the matter.Google
